Clinical Pilates

PhysioLife Pilates

Here at PhysioLife we offer Clinical Pilates at both our Alphington and Beechworth practices.

Clinical Pilates differs to regular Pilates in the manner that it incorperates Movement Based Classification and Treatment. This means that via a thorough assessment of yourself and any issues which you may have, our Physiotherapists can develop a personalised program based around improving your control, coordination, and general musculoskeletal health. We aim to work towards achieving any personal goals you may have, whether that be in regards to rehab, physical ability, or just general health and wellbeing.

Clinical Pilates may utilise mat work as well as Pilates reformers and trapeze tables. Our Physiotherapists are DMA Clinical Pilates trained, meaning they're competent with the Movement Based Classification and Treatment model pioneered by Craig Phillips.

How do I begin?

All new patients require an individual assessment which involves having a discussion about any presenting problems, and your goals that you would like to work towards. Following this there will be a physical assessment, and a brief introduction to the Pilates studio. Following your assessment, your Physiotherapist will produce your individualised program for you to work through in the coming sessions.

For the next few appointments, you'll typically have 1-on-1 classes with your chosen Physiotherapist while you grow accustomed to the equipment and your individual program. Once you're comfortable and familiar with the Pilates studio and your exercises, then you may choose to join a group class. Group classes are capped at 3 people (plus the physiotherapist) to ensure that you can still recieve some assistance if necessary.

Below you'll find out current pilates class times across the working week. If there is time listed on the timetable that is unavailable to be booked online, it may already be booked out. Please note that while these class times are fairly regular, there may be some variation week to week depending on other bookings/availabilities.
